Dunkirk: Stories and Perspectives

The Dunkirk Critical Field Study brought together researchers and practitioners from different disciplines to explore Dunkirk through site visits, discussions and critical reflection. Curated by Titiane Haton and myself in collaboration with the Landscape Research Group, the programme examined the intersections of industry, memory, ecology, urban transformation and climate transition that shape this distinctive coastal city. The field study resulted in the bilingual digital publication Dunkerque: Regards et Récits / Dunkirk: Stories and Perspectives, bringing together essays and reflections by participants. The publication explores Dunkirk as a living laboratory of the Anthropocene and is available to read online: https://landscaperesearch.org/event/critical-field-study-dunkirk-france/.

Le Dunkirk Critical Field Study a réuni des chercheurs et des praticiens de différentes disciplines pour explorer Dunkerque à travers des visites de terrain, des échanges et une réflexion critique. Coorganisé par Titiane Haton et moi-même en collaboration avec le Landscape Research Group, le programme s'est intéressé aux interactions entre industrie, mémoire, écologie, transformations urbaines et transition climatique qui façonnent cette ville côtière singulière. Cette étude de terrain a donné lieu à la publication bilingue Dunkerque : Regards et Récits / Dunkirk: Stories and Perspectives, qui rassemble les essais et réflexions des participants.
